Introduction

The Department of English conducts a two-day Bridge Course for all Undergraduate new entrants at the beginning of every academic year to ease their transition from school to college. The main purpose of the course is to bridge the gap between school and collegiate education in which the medium of instruction is English. They are taught basic grammar and techniques to improve their communication skills and vocabulary.

Objectives

• To develop the students’ sense of understanding and ability of expression in English
• To instill self-confidence in students to speak in English fluently
• To help the students get rid of their hesitation and stage-fear while conversing in English.
• To create love for English learning through audio visual aids

Function

• Students are trained to give self-introduction 
• Students are provided with exercises to improve their LSRW skills
• Students are taught to apply English in daily usages
• Feedback is received from the students at the end of the course to assess their curiosity in communicating in English
